PlayPosit

Interactive Videos with PlayPosit

What is PlayPosit?

PlayPosit is used to create interactions within videos. Pre-recorded videos, such as those in Kaltura, are loaded into what are called "Bulbs" -- containers unique to PlayPosit that hold the video and allow interactions to coincide with the video -- and various interactions are overlayed on the video. Many use this for creating autograded video quizzes which are attached to Canvas Assignments. However, other non-quizzing interaction types are available. Interactions in PlayPosit can be used to track retention through quizzing or can simply be used to reset viewer attention spans by asking them to actively engage with the video.

Faculty at IU have been quick to adopt PlayPosit with nearly two thousand instructors having created nearly five thousand bulbs and half a million hours of student engagement.

How do I use PlayPosit?

You can access PlayPosit through the UITS gateway. Logging in for the first time will activate your account.

Creating your first interactive video is easy and you can follow these steps to create your bulb and ensure that it is implemented into Canvas correctly. You also can find documentation on the multiple ways to integrate PlayPosit into Canvas.

With PlayPosit you can create different learning scenarios, such as:

  • Paused interactions
  • Insert PDF documents
  • Video quizzing
  • Branched learning - to present students with learning choices
  • Playlists - to assemble many bulbs and file types that are all scored together towards one grade
