Course Development Institute

2025 Foundational Course Development Institute

The 2025 Foundational Course Development Institute (CDI) will take place May 12 – 16, 2025. This Institute will be held on the Bloomington campus each day from 9 AM – 12 PM.

Those who enroll will be asked to choose one course in any modality to develop or revise. By way of highly interactive processes and activities, Institute facilitators guide participants through the beginning phases of developing a new course or transforming an existing course. Participants receive valuable feedback from colleagues from other departments and disciplines on the work they do during the Institute.

By the end of the week, participants can expect to have determined learning outcomes for their students, outlined a major final assignment (or exam), and aligned assignments to help students meet the specific learning outcomes. Additionally, participants will have opportunities to implement best practices for creating learning environments and communicating the course to students. All participants will leave with the foundations of their course syllabus complete.

This is an intensive institute on which participants should expect to spend 40 hours over the course of the week.

Fill out and submit an application by Monday, April 14, 2025 at 9 AM ET to be considered. Applicants will be notified of their status on April 21, 2025. Questions about the Institute may be sent to the facilitators, Sarah Pedzinski (spedzins@iu.edu) or Leslie Drane (lesdrane@iu.edu).
