Ren works with graduate students and instructors to create essential teaching materials such as teaching statements, syllabi, diversity statements, and teaching portfolios. She is particularly interested in nontraditional activity design for the first-year classroom and courses that prepare graduate students to teach for the first time. If you are interested in learning more about Ren’s teaching tips and tricks, please visit her blog page.
Currently, Ren is a rhetoric PhD student at Indiana University Bloomington who specializes in writing program administration. Her past degrees, both master’s and bachelor’s degrees, are in English literature. She has taught public speaking, introduction to composition, and introduction to literature courses. Ren has also worked in a variety of academic offices, including academic advising and writing centers. She joined CITL in March of 2024 as a graduate student instructional consultant.
When she’s not working (or doing homework!), Ren loves kickboxing and crocheting. She is mediocre at both but tries her best. She also cares for 57 houseplants.
