Google Suite

Google Suite Overview

What is it?

Google Suite is a bundle of free productivity tools for classroom collaboration. These tools allow faculty and students to create, share, and edit files in real-time. Everyone is on the same page, seeing all the same changes, editing collectively and all the work is automatically saved in the cloud. Google Suite tools also allow for a consistent experience across any computer, tablet, or smartphone.

The main suite of tools available at IU include Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Forms, Google Drive, Google Sites, and an IU specific combined tool called Google@IU GroupSpaces

What can I do with it?

Student Collaboration

Students can open a blank document, presentation, spreadsheet, or even a drawing and get started on the work together around one screen or multiple screens. Students can be together to collaborate or half a world away. They can work together at the same time or tag each other in comments and work at different times.  Best part is, all the work automatically saves so no more losing hours of work due to not saving, or working on multiple versions of the same document.

Submissions in Canvas

Students can sync their google account in Canvas and turn in assignment submissions directly from their Google Drive. No more flash drives or downloading documents to then upload to Canvas.
