DEIJ Institute
The CITL hosted the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) Institute in the summer of 2021, offering IU Bloomington instructors an extended opportunity to learn more about inclusive and equitable teaching, and to make concrete plans for integrating these concepts into their courses. Topics included inclusive course/syllabus design, equitable course policies, inclusive assignments and equitable grading, inclusive classroom activities and environments, building a sense of belonging, and more. Participants transformed a course component to help build a more equitable and inclusive course. As a follow-up to this institute, several participants have joined a Community of Practice that will continue to meet to support their course transformations. For resources related to DEIJ topics, see our Diversity and Inclusion webpages.
