Shannon serves in a dual capacity at the CITL; Lead Instructional Consultant and Director of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Program. While wearing her instructional consultant hat, she provides a broad range of pedagogical support and professional development to IUB faculty and instructors situated in evidence-based practices. While wearing her SoTL hat, she supports faculty in transitioning from Scholarly Teachers who may view themselves as consumers of pedagogical literature to SoTL scholars who contribute to and produce pedagogical literature.

Shannon’s recent professional service focus has been to the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning where she has served on advocacy, convenings, and recognition committees. Shannon served as co-host of the 20th annual ISSOTL conference in 2024.

Shannon holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus in Higher Education and a M.A. in Experimental Psychology from Indiana State University. She earned a B.S. in Psychology from Ball State University. Her teaching experience began in 2000 and she has taught a range of psychology courses to both undergraduate and graduate students in face-to-face, hybrid, and asynchronous online formats. Research methods is a favorite through line of Shannon’s work crossing both her teaching and administrative support roles.

Outside of work, Shannon enjoys quilting, genealogy, and reading.
