Thank-a-Prof

Thank-a-Prof

We all have those instructors who go above and beyond, working hard to ensure our academic success and well-being. Since a bit of gratitude can mean so much, we invite you to submit a note of appreciation to an instructor or teaching assistant (AI) who has made a difference to you over the past semester.

You can thank instructors and AIs who…

  • engaged you in your learning
  • made going to class worthwhile
  • motivated and challenged you to excel
  • served as a role model in pursuit of your goals
  • made you feel included and supported in your class or major
  • helped you overcome a personal difficulty or a challenging learning experience

We provided some samples from previous semesters below.

How it works

Fill out the form below, and we will make sure your thanks get to the instructor or AI after the semester ends. You can include your name or remain anonymous. You need to log in with your IU account, and we do record your email address when you submit the form, but just to verify you are an IU student.

Thank you for all you've done to improve our IUB community, and thanks for passing that gratitude along to your instructors.

We will be accepting Spring 2024 submissions until 8:00 am on Monday, May 13th.

Here are some of our favorite messages from previous semesters

Your class is fun, interactive, and somehow less stressful than the others. You made sure to let us know the first day that we could ask you to help us get job shadows, and you followed through on that when asked. I also really appreciate that you took the time to write a letter of recommendation for me. Thank you for helping to make my first semester of nursing school a good one!   - Erin
Just wanted to give a genuine thank you to you for a great semester. You always kept class fun and the vibe in the room was amazing. I was always interested in the topics (grammar 50/50) but really enjoyed coming to class. I haven't gotten that from French teachers or classes in high school and it was very refreshing. It's further cemented my decision to study abroad in France.  - Peter, French 250
Thank you for a wonderful Fall semester! You are incredibly kind and understanding and I truly believe that it does not go unnoticed to your students. I appreciate all of your support and understanding. Although your class was challenging at times, your enthusiasm and passion for learning made it all worthwhile. I cannot express enough gratitude to you, for how much you have taught me this semester. I hope to remain in touch and continue to learn from you throughout my time at IU! Thank you again.   - Lauren, BUS-A306
Thanks for making math less unbearable. You went out of your way to ensure we all succeeded, and always listened and worked with us. Without you, I wouldn't have believed that my math class would actually end up being one of the least stressful classes for this semester. - Miriam, M106
Thank you for being my professor this semester for Compass 1. You taught me how to brand myself very well and I've learned things that I'll carry with me for the rest of my professional career. In addition to being a great professor, you're a very kind person. When I wasn't feeling very well in class, you checked in on me and made sure I was alright. It was a personal moment that I haven't experienced with any professor at this point and it made me feel warm inside. Once again, thank you for being an amazing professor and an even better person. I enjoyed being your student and I hope we can keep in touch for the rest of my time in the Kelley School of Business and beyond!  - Arsh, BUS-T175
Taking your course made me feel confident that I made the right choice switching my major. You instilled confidence in me and encouraged me to take more opportunities to expand my knowledge. Thank you for a great semester, and for each class that left me with so much valuable information (and even more highly appreciated corny jokes)!  - Anonymous
Thank you so much for all the support you've given us over the semester! I appreciated you checking in on us during clinicals and in class. It means a lot when a professor shows they care about us students on a personal level. I also appreciate you taking the time to share your nursing experience, knowledge, and wisdom with us. You listen to our concerns and fight to make changes for us, and I think that is hard to come by as a college student. All in all I hope you know you are appreciated and that your efforts don't go unnoticed. Hope you have a wonderful winter break and holidays, and another great semester!  - Anonymous
I'm so glad I got to have you for my first semester of my freshman year. Everything you taught us was so incredibly valuable and I'm so grateful for you. Your class made me feel like a badass, strong woman. I love your personality and how you really want us to learn. I think Self-Defense will be one of the most valuable classes I take in my college career. You are a badass and inspire me every day to be and do my best. Thanks for everything! I hope to have another class with you sometime!  - Anonymous
