Classroom Climate Workshop Series

Multiple Dates and Times, Online

In order to support the University's goals of supporting diversity and equitable instruction on campus, the CITL offers the annual Classroom Climate Workshop (CCW) each fall. This program satisfies the requirements established by the Bloomington Faculty Council that all new associate instructors receive training in enhanced understanding of cultural diversity. In this event, we orient graduate student instructors to compliance with Federal laws and IU policies regarding classroom inclusion and equity, and apply and practice inclusive and equitable teaching practices through several live workshop options.

Advanced Integrations and Features in VoiceThread Visual Discussions

Friday, August 14, 2020 1 p.m. - 2 p.m., Online

In this training, participants will learn about more advanced VoiceThread features. We will demonstrate how to integrate Google Drive, Kaltura, and other content via our Media Sources, how to change language displays, and adjust playback settings. We will also demonstrate how to comment on video slides and create collaborative VoiceThreads. There will be an open Q&A thought the training.

Creating Self-Regulated Online Learners

In this webinar, CITL and Student Academic Center staff team up to help you develop self-regulated online learners. We will begin by introducing the concepts of self-regulated learning and metacognition and spend most of our time providing evidence-based strategies you as the instructor can build into common learning activities as well as strategies students can implement on their own.

Facilitating Online Courses

Wednesday, August 19, 2020 3 p.m. - 4 p.m., Online

In this webinar, we will address 5 common concerns among faculty when facilitating their online courses: reducing student attrition, facilitating grading and feedback, optimizing instructor presence, making large classes engaging and effective, and managing time. Presenters will provide evidence based strategies for addressing each of these concerns during the semester, while faculty panelists will provide examples from their own online courses.
