Join a CITL consultant to explore and discuss the structure of Canvas, IU’s learning management system. The presentation will give instructors an understanding of the interactivity of Canvas tools and how that influences course setup. You will learn how to create assignments that help to set up your gradebook, the options for adding your syllabus, how to grade assignments and how to customize the home page and the overall look of your Canvas course site. Please bring a laptop if you want to work on your own materials at the end of the workshop.

Solstice is a wireless display option available in a growing number of classrooms and conference rooms at Indiana University. In a room with a Solstice-enabled display, you can wirelessly connect your laptop or mobile device to the room's display to share photos, videos, or your entire desktop. Any number of users can connect to, share, and control the content on the room's display. Come learn how to use Solstice as well as gain ideas on how to leverage it as a powerful collaboration tool.

These consultations will be scheduled in one-hour increments and exact times confirmed after you have registered. (You will receive an email asking for your meeting time preferences.)

Specifications Grading: A Better Way to Grade

Wednesday, December 13, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM, CITL Workshop Room (Wells Library East Tower E243)

With elements of pass-fail grading, competency-based education and classic contract grading, Specifications Grading (or Specs Grading) provides student choice and control that boosts motivation and sense of responsibility (Nilson, 2015). In this workshop we will create our own assessment bundles, design one pass/fail rubric, and get feedback on them. By the end of the session, we will be well on our way to a new, better grading scheme.
