Online Course Development Institute

Online Course Development Institute

The Online Course Development Institute (OCDI) helps IU instructors design, develop, and learn how to teach an online course.

The institute takes place in May, with five 4-hour sessions over a 5-day period. Facilitors guide participants as they work to create and refine their designs and give each other ideas and feedback. Then, over the remainder of the summer, participants can complete online asynchronous activities (≤ 1 hour per week) aimed at helping them to develop further skills and become comfortable interacting and teaching in the online environment.

By the end of the institute, instructors will have a plan in place for developing and teaching their course, be able to apply quality standards to review and improve online and hybrid courses, and be able to use backward design principles in all their courses and lessons.

Those who enroll will need to choose one course to develop or revise.

The 2018 Online CDI will be held on:

  • Monday, May 21
  • Tuesday, May 22
  • Wednesday, May 23
  • Thursday, May 24
  • Friday, May 25

All sessions will take place 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.

This CDI is offered free of charge for instructors of any rank, from any discipline or department at IUB. If you would like to be considered for acceptance to this CDI, please complete an application. Questions about the Institute may be sent to Susan Hathaway.
