Podcasting for Instruction

What is a podcast?

A podcast is a collection of media files for distribution via the Internet, often by subscription, for playing on portable media players, desktop computers, and laptops.

Why might I use a podcast?

To provide students access to course materials (e.g., tutorials, content reviews, introducing topics, preview of upcoming class sessions, class news, lecture excerpts, lab or project directions, audio or video tours)

To provide students access to course materials from other sources (e.g., existing podcasts or other multimedia materials, foreign language or music files)

To allow students to create podcasts (e.g, interviews, tutorials, research logs, and literature, movie or music reviews)
