CITL sponsors a number of grants and awards to support IUB faculty members in developing innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Please see the programs below for deadlines, and contact us with any questions.
Active Learning Grants
Active Learning Grants provide funding to support the (re)design of courses that will enhance student engagement and active learning. Award: $1500 per project. Deadline: February 16, 2012.
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) Grants
SOTL grants provide funding to support research projects on teaching and learning at IUB. Awards: $2000, $5000, or $12000. Deadline: February 16, 2012.
Service-Learning Faculty Fellowships
Service-Learning Faculty Fellows will be part of a learning community that explores issues related to service-learning and community-based research and will also serve as a resource for other instructors considering adopting a service-learning pedagogy or developing a community-based research design. Award: $1000. Deadline: February 16, 2012.
Summer Instructional Development Fellowships
The Summer Instructional Development Fellowship (SIDF) program supports faculty members’ efforts to enhance student learning by encouraging innovative approaches to instruction and the development of measurable learning outcomes. The 2012 SIDF program is focused on the development of online courses. Award: $8000 per project. Deadline Extended: March 1, 2012.
Summer Writing-Teaching Grants
Summer Writing-Teaching Grants provide funding to help faculty design undergraduate courses that use writing in innovative and fruitful ways. Award: $1500 per project. Deadline: February 16, 2012.

Information Fluency Grants (IU Libraries)
The Indiana University Libraries are offering an instructional development grant of $1500 for the design or revision of a course to incorporate information fluency into undergraduate curricula. Deadline Extended: February 24, 2012.
Sustainability Course Development Fellowship (Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs)
This award program supports faculty members' efforts to enhance teaching of topics related to sustainability and environmental literacy at the IU Bloomington campus. It will support innovative approaches to instruction of complex, interdisciplinary topics at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Service-learning courses and those that involve application of principles of sustainability to the IU Bloomington campus are of particular interest. Deadline: Annually on March 1.
